Surrounded by a backdrop of historical medical journals, the aim of the event was to encourage open and relaxed discussions among dental educators from across the dental team, and to forge a new strategy to support the continued advancement of dental education.
Thanks to the efforts of the hard-working FDT Executive Committee, the Dental Dean Professor Grant McIntyre and our CEO Mark Egan, the FDT Strategy Day was a resounding success. Attendees took part in consolidation and Mentimeter exercises to identify partners and key objectives for the Faculty, and produced a series of achievable SMART goals to advance both current and new FDT projects.
We are proud to be the home of dental educators and remain committed to fostering strong partnerships and encouraging collective efforts to enhance dental training and patient safety worldwide. In the coming months the team will focus on updating the FDT Standards, reworking the Dental Non-Technical Skills framework (DeNTS Course), and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders within the dental community.
This is an exciting period of positive change within the Faculty of Dental Trainers, and we look forward to welcoming new FDT Executive Members in 2026.
